Team India's Fielding Woes Under Spotlight

Despite winning three major tournaments, Team India's fielding issues have become a concern among fans and experts. The team’s strong batting and bowling performances helped cover up missed catches, but dropping chances at crucial moments could prove costly in tougher matches. In recent series, India’s catching efficiency has remained a major weakness, with several dropped catches affecting performances.

During the UK and Zimbabwe tours, India played 13 matches, took 47 catches, but dropped 21 chances. The poor fielding standards led to criticism of former fielding coach T. Dilip, after which the BCCI appointed Shubadeep Ghosh as the new fielding coach. Ghosh, who has experience with Indian men’s and women’s teams, now faces the challenge of improving India’s fielding standards ahead of important assignments, including the Test series against Sri Lanka.
