Telangana Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy assured full support from the state government to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for expanding warehouse storage capacity. He said increasing storage facilities is essential considering the state’s record level paddy procurement every year. During a meeting with FCI General Manager Anuj Tyagi at the Secretariat, discussions were held on paddy procurement, transportation, and future storage requirements.
The minister stated that modern warehouses with advanced technology will be developed at strategic locations to strengthen the storage system and further support the central pool. He said the current central pool storage capacity in Telangana stands at 31 lakh tonnes, while an additional 16.25 lakh tonnes is required as per FCI standards. The government will speed up approvals, infrastructure development, and coordination to create additional storage capacity, he added.
