Novak Djokovic announced on Tuesday that he will not compete in this year’s Paris Masters, confirming the news on social media. The 24-time Grand Slam champion said, “Dear Paris, unfortunately, I’ll not compete at this year’s tournament. I have amazing memories and great success over the years, especially being able to conquer the title seven times. Hope to see you next year.”
The Serbian star has not played an official match since his shock defeat to then-world number 204 Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters earlier in October. During that match, Djokovic appeared visibly unwell, vomiting courtside and receiving multiple medical treatments before losing.
The 38-year-old was also forced to withdraw from his third-place match against American Taylor Fritz at the Six Kings Slam exhibition in Saudi Arabia last week. With his focus on managing his workload and recovery, Djokovic has significantly reduced his tournament schedule as he continues his pursuit of a record-breaking 25th major title.
Djokovic also skipped the Paris Masters last season, and while fans are disappointed, he reassured them that he hopes to return in 2026. Meanwhile, world number 10 Holger Rune will also miss this year’s Paris Masters, which runs from October 27 to November 2, after undergoing surgery on his Achilles tendon. Rune shared on Instagram that his “surgery went really well” and that he will now rest and recover.
