India's 21-year-old fast bowler Kranti Goud scripted history with a remarkable five-wicket haul in the one-off Women's Test against England at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. Finishing with impressive figures of 5/37, she became the first woman cricketer to earn a place on the Lord's Test Honours Board. Playing only her second Test match, Kranti also became the youngest Indian woman pacer to claim a five-wicket haul in Test cricket, marking a significant milestone in Indian women's cricket.
Kranti's memorable spell began with the dismissal of Tammy Beaumont and continued with the wickets of Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and Lauren Bell. Her delivery that shattered Alice Capsey's off stump stood out as one of the highlights of the match. England, resuming at 21/1 on the second day, were bowled out for 170, with Amy Jones (52) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (44) offering some resistance. Alongside Kranti's five wickets, Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana claimed two wickets each, while Deepti Sharma picked up one, helping India secure a commanding 115-run first-innings lead after posting 285 in their first innings.
