IND vs SL: Rain Interrupts India’s Dominant Second Test

India continued to dominate the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo despite a rain interruption on the second day. India reached 475/8 in 131.2 overs when rain forced the umpires to stop play and the ground staff covered the field. Dhruv Jurel was unbeaten on 95 and was just five runs away from a century, with Mohammed Siraj accompanying him at the crease. Earlier, Manav Suthar was dismissed for 18, giving Prabath Jayasuriya his first wicket of the innings.

Rishabh Pant also produced a memorable performance. Returning to the crease after being retired hurt on the opening day, Pant scored 63 and completed his 21st Test half-century. He also crossed 2,500 Test runs overseas, surpassing former India captain and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni’s tally of 2,496 to become the highest-scoring Indian wicketkeeper in overseas Tests. Pant and Jurel added a crucial 112-run partnership before Pant was dismissed immediately after the lunch break.
