

Osmania University has once again showcased its academic excellence and research capabilities by securing prominent positions in national rankings for 2026. According to the India Today Best Universities Survey 2026, the university secured fourth place among the country's leading general government universities. The ranking reflects the institution's performance in areas including teaching standards, research, infrastructure and academic administration. The university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kumar Molugram, expressed happiness over the achievement and said the recognition reflects the university's contribution to higher education in Telangana. Osmania University was also noted as the only university from Telangana to feature in these national rankings.
The university added another achievement in the Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2026, securing 13th place among the Top 75 State Public Universities. The ranking recognised areas such as industry engagement, student learning outcomes and diversity. Adding further distinction, the University College of Engineering, Osmania University (UCE-OU), secured 18th position among the Top 25 Government Engineering Institutions in the Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2026 released on July 17, 2026. Vice-Chancellor Professor Kumar Molugram dedicated these achievements to the collective efforts of faculty members, researchers, students and non-teaching staff, while also acknowledging the contribution of alumni. He said the rankings would serve as an encouragement to further raise standards in teaching, research and innovation and called upon all stakeholders to work together to strengthen Osmania University's position as a leading centre of education and knowledge.
