Argentina Shock India in Hockey World Cup

India suffered a major setback at the 2026 Men’s Hockey World Cup, losing 3-5 to Argentina in their final Pool E match on Monday. Argentina made a flying start, with Joaquin Toscani scoring within 39 seconds before Nicolas Della Torre doubled the lead. India responded through Sukhjeet Singh, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and keeping the contest alive.

Argentina, however, maintained its advantage and secured a 5-3 victory, sending India out of the semi-final race. Under the tournament’s new format, only the top two teams from Pool E qualify for the semi-finals, while India finished at the bottom of the pool. India will now face co-hosts Belgium in the seventh-place playoff on Friday.
