England's star batter Joe Root has achieved another rare milestone in cricket history. In the second innings of the fourth Test against Australia in the ongoing Ashes series at Melbourne, Root scored 15 runs, becoming the ninth batsman to complete 22,000 runs in international cricket. Root, who has played 380 international matches so far, achieved this feat with an average of 49.21. The only players ahead of him in this list are Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Mahela Jayawardene, Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid, and Brian Lara.
Meanwhile, England secured a historic four-wicket victory over Australia in the Boxing Day Test. After restricting Australia to 152 runs in the first innings, England were bowled out for 110. In the second innings, Australia scored 132, setting England a target of 175. Steady batting from Harry Brook and Jamie Smith at crucial stages helped England reach the target. This victory ended Australia's unbeaten run against England in Australia. However, Australia had already clinched the series 3-1.
