The first T20I between India and Afghanistan, scheduled for September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, is facing uncertainty and could be postponed. Team India players have already arrived in Delhi and begun practice. However, following recent security reviews, an official announcement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India is expected soon.
The BRICS Summit, which is scheduled to take place in the national capital on September 13, is reportedly the main reason behind the concerns. Several world leaders are expected to visit Delhi, leading to heightened security, traffic restrictions and VIP movements across the city. Holding an international match before thousands of spectators on the same day could put additional pressure on security agencies. The BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board are reportedly discussing options to reschedule the match while ensuring adequate security arrangements.
