H.S. Prannoy Hints at Asian Games Farewell

Indian badminton star H.S. Prannoy has made a significant statement about his Asian Games future. He said the ongoing 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya could be his final appearance at the continental event, as he is unsure whether he can maintain the same level after another four years. Prannoy said he is currently in good physical and mental shape and gained confidence from his recent Vietnam Open campaign. After India narrowly missed out on gold in the previous Asian Games, he hopes to reach the final and win the gold medal this time.

Prannoy, however, has kept his hopes of competing at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics alive. He said he will push himself for the next one to one-and-a-half years and will continue if he feels there is a realistic chance of making the Olympic squad. He also credited fellow veteran Kidambi Srikanth for inspiring him to continue competing at the highest level. Meanwhile, doubles star Chirag Shetty said India would look to turn its previous Asian Games silver into gold and give its best in the team event.
