India’s batters put on a commanding display in the T20 match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the fifth and final game of the five-match series, Tilak Varma (73) and Hardik Pandya (63) played crucial half-centuries to propel Team India to a massive total. Riding on their aggressive batting, India posted 231 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs, setting South Africa a daunting target.
After South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl, Indian openers Sanju Samson (37) and Abhishek Sharma (34) gave the hosts a brisk start, adding 63 runs for the first wicket. Captain Suryakumar Yadav departed early, but Tilak Varma took charge at one down, striking 73 off 42 balls with 10 fours and a six. He was well supported by Hardik Pandya, who unleashed a fierce assault with 63 off just 25 balls, smashing five sixes and five fours to lift India past the 230-run mark.
Chasing a stiff target, South Africa began aggressively, with Quinton de Kock hammering 65 off 35 balls and building a strong opening stand alongside Brevis. The duo took the score to 118 within 10 overs, putting India under pressure. However, Varun Chakravarthy turned the match around with a brilliant spell, dismissing key batters including Markram and David Miller. Despite brief resistance from Corbin Bosch and George Linde, South Africa were restricted to 201. Varun Chakravarthy starred with four wickets, Jasprit Bumrah conceded just 17 runs and claimed two wickets, while Hardik Pandya chipped in with a crucial breakthrough. India clinched a 30-run victory and sealed the series 3-1.
