Gautam Gambhir Urges Team India to Be Proud Despite Losing Final Two T20Is Against New Zealand

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has urged the players to take pride in their performance after securing the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. India, led by Shreyas Iyer, won the first three matches to take an unassailable lead but lost the final two games. Addressing the players in the dressing room after the fifth T20I, Gambhir praised their efforts and highlighted the challenge of defeating a quality New Zealand side in its own conditions. He pointed out that the team had only one day to prepare for the series, making the achievement even more significant. He said the players had every reason to hold their heads high despite missing out on victories in the final two matches.

Gambhir also reminded the players of the responsibility they carried at the beginning of the tour, stressing that they had successfully brought the energy and momentum needed by the team. While acknowledging that India should have won the last two matches as well, he said such results are part of the game. With the upcoming ODI and Test assignments ahead, the coach urged the squad to focus on continuous improvement, develop as a unit and maintain a collective approach. He emphasised that consistent progress and teamwork would be crucial in the matches ahead.
