Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the government will continue investing in the economy to support growth until private investment activity gathers momentum. Speaking at an event, she stated that the government is maintaining a balance between capital expenditure, which supports economic expansion, and fiscal discipline. According to her, the government is committed to sustaining growth while ensuring that public spending remains financially responsible.
Sitharaman said this strategy has delivered positive results over the past four to five years and has benefited the Indian economy. With the economy growing at over 7%, she urged people to remain confident about the country's future and adopt an optimistic outlook. She also stressed the need to move away from pessimism and develop greater confidence in India's long-term growth prospects.
Tatas Important to the Economy
The Finance Minister also advised Tata Sons and Tata Trusts to resolve their ongoing differences as quickly and amicably as possible. She noted that the Tata Group plays a significant role in India's economy and expressed concern that the dispute should not become a prolonged public issue. She expressed hope that those in leadership positions would take the necessary steps to settle their differences and restore normalcy. Sitharaman further said that the government would examine concerns raised by retail investors and market participants regarding issues such as foreign investment withdrawals.
