Entertainment giant The Walt Disney Company is reportedly preparing for another major round of job cuts as part of a broader cost-reduction strategy. According to international media reports, the company has informed senior managers about plans to reduce operating expenses by nearly 20%. The cost-cutting measures could include eliminating thousands of jobs and tightening overall spending across various business divisions. Disney’s theme parks, television networks and movie studios are expected to be among the most affected segments. CEO Josh D’Amaro reportedly aims to redirect the savings towards investments in film and television programming, technology, theme parks and cruise ship operations.
Meanwhile, open-source software company SUSE has also reportedly laid off around 10% of its workforce. CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen communicated the decision to employees through an internal memo. In the communication, he highlighted how artificial intelligence and automation are transforming the way software companies operate. The latest developments indicate that major companies across the entertainment and technology sectors are increasingly focusing on cost optimisation and restructuring their workforces amid changing business priorities.
