For the first time in Pakistan’s cricket history, a bilateral series in women’s cricket is set to take place. The Zimbabwe women’s team will tour Pakistan for a series comprising three ODIs and three T20 matches. This series is expected to be a significant milestone in the development of women’s cricket. The matches are scheduled to be held from the 3rd to the 15th of next month. The ODI series will be part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025–29, while the T20 series will be conducted as a regular bilateral series. All matches will be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, with ODIs scheduled on the 3rd, 6th and 9th and T20 matches on the 12th, 14th and 15th of next month.
Notably, Zimbabwe will be participating in the ICC Women’s Championship for the first time. This series could have an impact on qualification for the 2029 Women’s World Cup. Currently, Pakistan is placed 8th and Zimbabwe 11th in the points table. Pakistan recently slipped in the rankings after losing a series to South Africa, while Zimbabwe is at the bottom following defeats against New Zealand. Both teams will be aiming to secure valuable points and improve their standings through this series. After the Zimbabwe series, Pakistan will participate in a T20 tri-series in Ireland, which will also feature West Indies. At present, New Zealand leads the ICC Women’s Championship points table, followed by England, Australia, South Africa and India in the top five, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, West Indies, Ireland and Zimbabwe occupy the subsequent positions.
