The 14th South Asian Games are set to be held in Pakistan from April 3 to 11, 2027, with Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar selected as the host cities. Preparations for the regional multi-sport event are progressing, with the Games expected to feature 28 sports, 346 medal events and around 3,200 athletes.
India’s participation has become a key talking point after its representatives joined the latest South Asia Olympic Council meeting virtually via Zoom, while representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka attended in person. India’s virtual participation indicates its involvement in the preparatory process, but reports caution that this should not yet be interpreted as confirmation that Indian athletes will travel to Pakistan for the Games. Any final decision regarding participation will be closely watched.
