India’s Davis Cup campaign came to an end in the second qualifying round after South Korea defeated the Indian team 3-1. South Korea had taken a 2-0 lead on Friday after winning both singles matches, leaving India with little room for error on the second day. India’s doubles pair of Dakshineshwar and Sriram Balaji kept the tie alive on Saturday by beating Nam Ji Sung and Park Ui Sung 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
However, India could not build on that momentum in the crucial reverse singles. Sumit Nagal was beaten 1-6, 2-6 by Soonwoo Kwon, allowing South Korea to seal the tie 3-1. With the victory, South Korea advanced to the Davis Cup Final 8, while India’s campaign came to an end in the second qualifying round.
