The Income Tax Department has taken fresh action in the alleged benami assets case involving police officer Sankireddy Bhim Reddy and his wife. The department has provisionally attached two houses, four agricultural land parcels and a Toyota Innova Crysta allegedly received as illegal gratification in return for official favours. The Benami Property Unit (BPU) of the Income Tax Department issued three orders on November 3. The attached properties include two houses in Brindavan Gardens at Muthangi, four agricultural land parcels measuring 3.20 acres in Mogudampally and an Innova Crysta car. According to the values mentioned in registration documents and vehicle records, the combined value of these assets is estimated at Rs. 59.4 lakh. However, their current market value is believed to be considerably higher.
According to the department's investigation, GPR Housing Private Limited transferred two houses in Muthangi to Pothuganti Indrakaran Reddy in July 2023 without receiving any payment. Officials allege that the houses were provided in return for favours extended by Bhim Reddy during his tenure as Patancheru Sub-Divisional Police Officer. The department also identified four agricultural land parcels registered in the name of Home Guard Laxman Naik, with Bhim Reddy allegedly being one of the actual beneficiaries. In another allegation, Aluri Suresh, owner of Apple Enterprises, reportedly provided a Toyota Innova Crysta to the police officer in return for assistance in resolving accident-related disputes. The attachment order places the vehicle's value at Rs. 22 lakh. Investigators further allege that Bhim Reddy had been using the vehicle exclusively since late 2024.
