

Defending champions India continued their winning momentum at the Chess Olympiad, with both the men’s and women’s teams registering their fourth consecutive victories. In Saturday’s fourth-round clash, the Indian men’s team defeated Spain 3-1. Arjun Erigaisi and D Gukesh secured wins in their respective games, while R Praggnanandhaa and Nihal Sarin drew their matches to help India complete a convincing victory.
The Indian women’s team also recorded a 3-1 win, defeating Mongolia in their fourth-round encounter. Savitha Shri and Divya Deshmukh won their games, while Koneru Humpy and R Vaishali settled for draws against their respective opponents. With both teams maintaining a perfect winning record after four rounds, the defending champions have made a strong start to their title defence.
