A major player trade is reportedly on the cards ahead of the IPL 2027 season. According to media reports, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya could move to Punjab Kings, while Punjab's left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod may join Mumbai as part of the deal. The reports suggest that discussions between the franchises have progressed, although the proposed trade has not yet received official confirmation.
According to a Sportstar report dated November 3, Punjab Kings are close to finalising the deal. Mumbai are also said to have explored trade possibilities with three franchises before discussions with Punjab advanced. The paperwork could reportedly be processed before the November 17 retention deadline. Hardik previously represented Mumbai from 2015 to 2021 before joining Gujarat Titans. He returned to Mumbai through an all-cash trade in 2023. In IPL 2026, he scored 206 runs in 10 matches and took four wickets. Arshdeep, meanwhile, became Punjab Kings' first bowler to reach 100 IPL wickets for the franchise and was retained for Rs. 18 crore using the RTM card at the 2025 auction. If completed, the deal could give Punjab an experienced all-rounder and Mumbai a frontline Indian fast bowler. The IPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled to take place in Goa on December 16, according to the report.
