The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly expressed concern over the fitness standards of players at the Centre of Excellence (COE). According to reports, the board has sought an explanation from Chief Physio Kamlesh Jain following criticism over recurring injuries and allegations that some players have gained weight during rehabilitation. Fast bowler Harshit Rana is reported to have gained nearly four kilograms during his time at the COE before sustaining an injury during the ODI series against England.
The BCCI is also said to be reviewing the effectiveness of the Bronco Test, which replaced the Yo-Yo Test as part of the fitness assessment process. Reports suggest the board questioned Kamlesh Jain over declining fitness levels, recurring muscle injuries during the England tour, and the clearance given to Harshit Rana despite concerns over his weight. Sources claim Rana weighed around 97 kilograms before the England tour, while the management has now recommended maintaining his weight below 96 kilograms. The board is reportedly considering significant changes to the fitness monitoring system at the COE.
