BCCI Pays Glowing Tribute to Ajinkya Rahane

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has paid rich tributes to Ajinkya Rahane after the veteran batter announced his retirement from international cricket. Acknowledging his nearly 15-year career, the Board described Rahane as one of India's most dependable Test batters, particularly in challenging overseas conditions. His memorable centuries at Lord's, Wellington, Melbourne, Kingston and Durban were highlighted as defining moments that showcased his technique, temperament and ability to perform under pressure.

The BCCI also hailed Rahane's inspirational leadership during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Taking over the captaincy after India's difficult start in Adelaide, Rahane guided an injury-hit young side to a historic series victory, including the famous triumph at The Gabba, ending Australia's 32-year unbeaten record at the venue. The Board noted that Rahane remained unbeaten as India's Test captain, winning four of his six matches and drawing the other two. BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia praised Rahane's professionalism, humility, leadership and lasting contribution to Indian cricket, wishing him success in the next phase of his career.
