Team India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is on the verge of scripting history in the T20 World Cup. If he claims four more wickets in the upcoming match against Namibia, he will become the highest wicket-taking Indian bowler in T20 World Cup history. Currently, the record is held by former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who picked up 32 wickets in 24 matches before retiring from international cricket in December 2024. Arshdeep has already taken 29 wickets in just 15 matches, showcasing remarkable consistency and impact in the shortest format.
Following Ashwin on the list are Jasprit Bumrah with 26 wickets in 18 matches, Hardik Pandya with 24 wickets in 25 matches, and Ravindra Jadeja with 22 wickets in 30 matches. Arshdeep made his T20 debut against England in July 2022 and played his first T20 World Cup match against Pakistan at Melbourne, where he claimed four wickets. In the 2024 edition under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, he grabbed 17 wickets in eight matches, setting a world record for the most wickets in a single T20 World Cup edition. Overall, the global record for most wickets in T20 World Cup history belongs to Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, who has taken 50 wickets in 43 matches.
