The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition seeking action against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over allegations concerning his citizenship. The petitioner claimed that Gandhi had declared himself a British citizen while establishing a company in the United Kingdom and sought cancellation of his Indian citizenship and Lok Sabha membership.
The court rejected the plea after observing that the petitioner had failed to place sufficient evidence before it to substantiate the allegations. The issue concerning the allegations against Rahul Gandhi is already under consideration by the central government, according to the information provided in the petition.
