India to Host Historic First-Ever Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027

India has been selected to host the first-ever Women’s Champions Trophy, marking a significant milestone in women’s international cricket. The ICC announced that the six-team tournament will be played from February 14 to 28 next year, with Mumbai and Vadodara chosen as the venues.

Sri Lanka had initially secured the hosting rights, but the ICC later removed the country from hosting duties following concerns over government interference in its cricket administration. After considering Bangladesh, India and South Africa as alternatives, the ICC Board approved India as the host. Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka qualified based on their ICC T20I rankings as of July 6. The tournament will follow a round-robin league format, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
