Telangana Minister Konda Surekha said she has explained her position to the Congress high command and urged the party leadership to allow her to continue in office. Speaking to the media in Delhi, she said her daughter Susmitha is an independent individual and that her statements should not be linked to Surekha’s political responsibilities. She also said she has been working without corruption allegations and remains focused on serving the public.
Surekha said issuing a show-cause notice to her over her daughter’s remarks was unfair. She claimed that some people within the party had made allegations against her and said she knows who was behind them, but would not disclose their names to avoid creating another controversy. She said those who made allegations against her should also face scrutiny and added that she has submitted written explanations to Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal. She said her future course of action would depend on the decision taken by the party.
