BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has accused Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of allegedly seeking commissions from proposed foreign coal purchases to meet the political demands of the Congress high command. Speaking at a meeting of party workers from the Narsampet constituency at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, KTR described Revanth Reddy as a “Chief Minister of EMIs” and alleged that the Congress leadership was acting like a recovery agent. He challenged the state government to order an inquiry by a sitting judge into the proposed foreign coal purchases and the alleged ₹10,000-crore scam in Singareni, in which he claimed the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law was involved. KTR also alleged irregularities in a solar power project and criticised the government over coal production, pending dues of around ₹60,000 crore to Singareni and claims of coal shortages at power plants.
KTR also criticised the Congress government’s handling of irrigation and drought conditions, alleging that nearly 1,000 TMC of water had flowed into the sea due to poor management. He said El Niño was affecting several states, but governments in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were taking steps to manage water resources. He questioned why Telangana was facing drought conditions while Andhra Pradesh was celebrating its water resources initiatives. KTR expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power and urged party workers to work for the victory of BRS candidates in the upcoming graduate MLC elections. At a meeting with BRS leaders from the erstwhile Warangal district, he called for voter registration drives to ensure that every eligible graduate could exercise their right to vote.
