Jharkhand created history by winning their first-ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title after a commanding 69-run victory over Haryana in the 2025 final held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The triumph was powered by an outstanding captain’s knock from Ishan Kishan, whose blistering century laid the foundation for one of the most dominant performances in the tournament’s history.
Batting first, Jharkhand produced a sensational batting display to post 262/3 in 20 overs, the fifth-highest team total in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the highest ever in a final. Despite losing Virat Singh in the opening over, Jharkhand recovered instantly as Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra launched a relentless assault on the Haryana bowlers. Kishan smashed 101 off 49 balls, striking six fours and ten sixes, while Kushagra played an equally destructive knock of 81 off 38 balls. The duo added 177 runs in just 82 balls, completely shifting the momentum.
The onslaught continued even after Kishan’s dismissal in the 15th over, with Anukul Roy (40* off 20) and Robin Minz (31* off 14) finishing strongly to push the total beyond Haryana’s reach. Chasing a record target, Haryana’s innings never gained momentum after losing two wickets in the very first over. Although Yashvardhan Dalal fought back with a rapid 53 off 22 balls, Jharkhand’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. Sushant Mishra led the bowling attack with 3/27, supported well by Bal Krishna and Anukul Roy, as Haryana were bowled out for 193 in 19.3 overs.
With this victory, Jharkhand lifted their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in their first-ever appearance in the final. Captain Ishan Kishan finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, amassing 517 runs at an average of 57.44 and a strike rate of over 197, underlining his crucial role in the historic campaign.
