India to Host Inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy.. Dates Announced!

India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy next year, with the tournament scheduled to be held from February 14 to 28. Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka have qualified based on their positions in the women’s T20 rankings as of the July 6 cut-off date. Pakistan, currently ranked eighth, failed to make the cut. Matches will be played at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.

The tournament will be played in the T20 format, with each team facing every other side once. The top two teams in the standings will qualify for the final on February 28. Sri Lanka was originally scheduled to host the event but lost the hosting rights amid concerns over government interference in the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket. After considering India, Bangladesh and South Africa as alternative venues, the ICC recommended India as the replacement host. The ICC Board approved the decision on September 2.
