Set in rural Andhra Pradesh in 2004, the story revolves around a farmer Shivaji and his family. Trouble begins when Ravi, a young man from a lower caste, falls in love with Sujatha, a girl from a dominant caste. What follows is a chain of disturbing events rooted in caste pride, social oppression, and inhuman decisions taken in the name of honor. The film explores how far individuals can go when blinded by caste hierarchy and false prestige.
• A fresh narrative angle on caste-based discrimination
• Strong performances, especially by Shivaji and Navdeep
• Engaging courtroom drama and a well-handled climax
• Honest portrayal of social realities without excessive melodrama
• Slightly uneven narration in the first half
• Some scenes feel stretched and could have been tighter
• A few character relationships needed clearer development
Production design effectively recreates the vintage rural setting. Mark K Robin’s background score adds emotional depth and intensity. Cinematography by Venkat R. Shakamuri is neat and grounded. Editing is decent, though the pacing could have been sharper in parts.
Dandora stands out as a sincere and thoughtful film that approaches caste conflict from a different perspective. Despite minor flaws, strong performances and an honest narrative make it a meaningful watch for audiences interested in socially driven cinema.
