Story:
Shiva and Nandini, two youngsters from Vizag, meet through an arranged marriage proposal. Nandini tells Shiva that she is not interested in the marriage and asks him to convey the same to their families. However, Shiva surprises her by saying that he is interested in the marriage. Nandini is then forced to travel with Shiva. Why does she reject marriage? What personal problem is she dealing with? How Shiva helps her overcome it and whether they eventually come together forms the story of ‘Nandini’.

Plus Points:
‘Nandini’ works well mainly because of the chemistry between Pawan Singuluri and Aakanksha. The film handles the idea of standing by the people we love in a simple and decent manner. The fun moments in the initial portions, the lead pair’s chemistry and their natural performances are among its major strengths. A few twists in their track work well, while the emotional moments towards the climax also leave an impact. The supporting actors have also performed well.

Minus Points:
The heroine’s backstory needed stronger writing and a more convincing emotional foundation. The way her personal problem is established does not completely connect with the twist revealed towards the climax. The idea that an incident from her younger years continues to affect her even after reaching marriageable age feels somewhat weak. A few songs also interrupt the flow of the narrative. The film could have benefited from tighter and sharper editing.

Technical Department:
‘Nandini’ boasts good production values for a short film. Producer Venkat Talari has presented the film in a rich manner without compromising on quality. Sai Karthik’s music is decent, while Chandu Krish’s cinematography complements the narrative. However, the editing could have been tighter. Director Ramarao Siripuram handles the overall treatment well and explores a sensitive issue faced by some women, but the reason presented for the central conflict needed to be more logical and convincing.

Verdict:
Overall, ‘Nandini’ is a refreshing and decent romantic comedy from ETV Win. The chemistry and performances of Pawan Singuluri and Aakanksha, along with the love track and emotional moments, work in its favour. Although the heroine’s backstory could have been written more convincingly, the short film makes for a decent watch on ETV Win.
