Rare Cotton-Top Tamarins Arrive at Visakhapatnam Zoo

The Visakhapatnam Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) has welcomed 12 new wild animals as part of an animal exchange programme with the Jamnagar based trust in Gujarat. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan announced that the exchange programme has been completed and highlighted the importance of strengthening wildlife conservation efforts. The zoo has also received cotton-top tamarins for the first time, adding a new attraction for visitors.

Pawan Kalyan congratulated the IGZP team for successfully completing the exchange programme and said the government is giving priority to wildlife conservation. The arrival of the new animals is expected to enhance the zoo’s diversity and provide visitors with an opportunity to observe rare species. The initiative is also aimed at supporting conservation and improving the overall experience at the zoological park.
