Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seems to have pulled off a smart emotional move ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election. During a campaign meeting, he made a surprise announcement that immediately created a buzz — a statue of Telugu cinema legend and former Andhra Pradesh CM Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) will soon be installed at Maitrivanam, Ameerpet.
Revanth emphasized that NTR is a leader loved by all Telugu people, beyond party lines. “NTR is a great leader we all admire. If anyone dares to oppose his statue’s installation, we will see their end and bury them in the Musi River,” he said passionately, sparking cheers from the crowd.
He further mentioned that he would personally attend the statue’s inauguration, entrusting Congress candidate Naveen Yadav with its execution.
Though the TDP isn’t contesting this by-election, Chandrababu Naidu advised his cadre to either support the BJP candidate or stay neutral. Yet, Revanth’s deep roots in the TDP and his emotional connection with NTR’s legacy make this move look like a strategic attempt to woo TDP sympathizers in Jubilee Hills.
With NTR’s image still commanding massive respect in both Telugu states, Revanth’s latest political gesture might just turn out to be a masterstroke, potentially swaying voter sentiment in Congress’s favor.
