Just days before the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the poll process was hit by controversy after VVPAT mock slips were found scattered on a roadside in the state. The Election Commission took immediate action, ordering an inquiry, registering an FIR, and suspending a polling official for negligence. Officials said strict measures are being implemented to ensure transparency and prevent any breach of election protocol.
The final phase of polling will be held on November 11 across 122 constituencies, with 1,302 candidates contesting. The first phase, conducted on November 6, saw a voter turnout of 64.6%, with Begusarai recording the highest participation and Sheikhpura the lowest. The battle between the BJP–JD(U)-led NDA and the RJD–Congress Mahagathbandhan remains tight, with both alliances intensifying their final rounds of campaigning.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah led a series of rallies projecting voter enthusiasm as “proof of public trust,” while Rahul Gandhi alleged irregularities, accusing BJP leaders of ‘vote chori’ during the first phase. With campaigning ending on Sunday evening, all eyes are now on November 11, when voters will decide the fate of Bihar’s high-stakes political contest.
