Hyderabad Land Row Intensifies as Harish Rao Accuses Congress Government

BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has strongly criticised the Telangana government over what he alleged was an attempt to hand over valuable Oilfed land at RTC Cross Roads and Azamabad in Hyderabad to a private party. In an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Rao alleged that the government was seeking to transfer around 3 acres and 23 guntas (15,984 square yards) of land, which he claimed is worth nearly ₹500 crore in the open market, for ₹87 crore. He questioned why the land was being offered to a private party despite Oilfed being prepared to pay the stated amount. Rao also alleged that the property had remained under government control for decades and accused the Congress government of pursuing a policy of privatising public assets.

Rao further claimed that the issue was part of a wider pattern involving valuable government properties in areas such as Kokapet, Raidurg and Gachibowli. He urged the Chief Minister to immediately withdraw the alleged allocation and ensure that the land remains with Oilfed. Rao also said that BRS would not remain silent if public assets were transferred to private individuals and warned that the party would launch a major political campaign against the decision. The allegations are those made by Harish Rao; the government’s response and an independent verification of the claims would be required to establish the facts.
