Tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate as diplomatic talks over the nuclear agreement progress. In a key development, the US deployed nearly 50 advanced fighter jets to the Middle East within 24 hours, raising concerns over potential military action. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned Iran of possible military strikes if negotiations fail. The second round of talks between the two nations in Geneva has concluded, and the US deployment of F-22 and F-16 fighter jets, along with aerial refueling aircraft, underscores the strategic significance of the region.
In addition, the US Aircraft Carrier Gerald R. Ford is reportedly moving from the Caribbean toward the Middle East, accompanied by three guided-missile destroyers – USS Mahan, USS Bainbridge, and USS Winston Churchill. Other carriers, including USS Abraham Lincoln, are already stationed in the region with multiple warplanes. While both sides claim the Geneva talks were positive, US officials acknowledge that some complex issues remain unresolved. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said progress has been made, but certain conditions still need clarity. US Vice President JD Vance noted that Iran has yet to accept some stringent conditions set by Trump, emphasizing that diplomatic solutions are still preferred but military options remain on the table.
