Amid ongoing uncertainty over the second round of talks between the United States and Iran, US President Donald Trump made significant remarks expressing optimism about possible progress. Reports suggest that peace negotiations could resume within the next 36 to 72 hours. Trump’s comments came shortly after the ceasefire with Iran was extended. He stated that the extension was made at Pakistan’s request to allow Iran time to present a unified proposal aimed at ending the prolonged conflict.
The planned visit of a US delegation to Pakistan has been temporarily postponed due to rising tensions. Developments such as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, attacks on cargo vessels, and seizure incidents have further complicated the scenario. Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi strongly criticized US actions, calling the port blockade a violation of the ceasefire and describing it as an act of war. He also condemned attacks on commercial vessels and warned that Iran knows how to safeguard its interests.
Meanwhile, US forces seized an oil tanker named M/T Tiffany over allegations of illegal Iranian crude transport.
The conflict, which began earlier this year, has already pushed global oil prices significantly higher. With the first round of talks failing, global attention is now focused on the possibility of a second round of negotiations.
