Amid internal rifts, resignations, and growing pressure within All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has reportedly proposed merging the party with the Indian National Congress. Sources indicate that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has sought time to respond to the proposal. Following the recent Assembly elections where the TMC lost power and the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government, internal conflicts within the party have intensified, alongside mounting political pressure.
Meanwhile, key TMC leaders have rebelled and signaled support for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, raising concerns about the party’s future. Reports also suggest that Abhishek Banerjee recently met Rahul Gandhi, further fueling speculation. With uncertainty looming over its political roadmap, Mamata Banerjee faces a challenging path ahead in navigating upcoming elections.
