Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated in the Assembly that rejuvenation of the Musi River is unavoidable. He said pollution of the river has caused severe hardship to the people of Nalgonda district, stressing that restoring the river is essential for public health and environmental protection.
In the first phase, development works will be taken up over a 21 kilometre stretch from Gandipet to Gandhi Sarovar. The Chief Minister said project estimates will be finalized within the next three months. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a loan of ₹4,100 crore for the project, and the Central Government has already granted its approval.
Referring to the rejuvenation of the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh and plans to clean the Yamuna in Delhi, the CM said similar efforts will be undertaken for the Musi River. He announced that 20 TMC of water will be diverted from the Godavari to fill the Musi and Eesa rivers, and detailed information about the project will be shared within the next four to five days.
