Telangana Government Forms Special Committee to Probe 16 Land-Related Issues

The Telangana government has constituted a special committee to inquire into alleged land irregularities, encroachments and violations of land-related laws and government orders across several districts. The decision follows the discussion held in the State Legislative Assembly on September 16 on issues related to Section 22-A of the Registration Act. The committee will examine land-related matters involving former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, former ministers K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, other former public representatives, their family members and associates, along with several other cases. The government order covers 16 sets of land-related issues across Siddipet, Rangareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad districts. The New Indian Express

Commissioner of Collegiate and Technical Education A. Sridevasena has been appointed as the chairperson of the committee. Registration and Stamps Special Secretary Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu, Jangaon Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and the collectors of the concerned districts will be part of the panel. The inquiry will cover alleged violations involving government, assigned, ceiling, Bhoodan, inam, jagir and forest lands, land acquisition and rehabilitation, encroachments in water-resource areas and irregularities in land records. The committee has been authorised to obtain records and documents from government departments and local authorities, determine responsibility where violations are established and recommend appropriate action.
