Khairatabad By-Election Victory Belongs to BJP - Kishan Reddy

BJP leaders welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision in the disqualification case involving Danam Nagender. Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in separate statements, said the verdict on violation of the anti-defection law was a setback for both the Congress and BRS. The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to interfere with the Telangana High Court’s decision disqualifying Nagender under the anti-defection law.

Kishan Reddy criticised both the previous BRS government and the Congress over alleged political defections, and said voters would respond to the two parties in the Khairatabad by-election. Bandi Sanjay said it was ironic that both the Congress and BRS were claiming the verdict as a victory and described it as a lesson for parties that encourage defections. BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy welcomed the Supreme Court decision, calling it a victory for the Constitution. Telangana BJP president N. Ramachander Rao also welcomed the verdict and said everyone in a democracy must respect the Constitution.
