Asian Games: Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal Create History

Indian shooters Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal created history by becoming the first Indian pair to win a medal in the mixed team skeet event at the Asian Games. The duo secured bronze after scoring 44 points in a closely contested final on Thursday. Naruka and Dhaliwal had qualified for the four-team final with a combined score of 138 points. Qatar’s pair withdrew before the final, ensuring India a medal. China and South Korea competed for gold, with their pairs finishing with 52 and 51 points respectively to take gold and silver, while India settled for bronze.

India’s performance in skeet was particularly notable, with the country winning medals in all three events in which it competed. Indian shooters also secured bronze medals in the men’s and women’s skeet events. However, the 10m air pistol team event ended in disappointment as Kamaljeet, Balakrishna Kedarl ing and Akash Bharadwaj missed out on a medal. The Indian trio finished fourth in the six-series final with 1,730 points. None of the three shooters managed to qualify for the individual final.
