A bench led by Justice Sanjay Karol heard the matter, during which the counsel representing Speaker Gaddam Prasad informed the court that a final decision had already been taken on the issue. The development has once again drawn attention in political circles across the state.
Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi told the bench that the Speaker had already disposed of all ten petitions filed regarding the alleged defections. According to the Speaker’s decision, the ten MLAs concerned had not officially switched parties. Taking note of these submissions, the Supreme Court directed that copies of the Speaker’s order be provided to the petitioners within two days. In view of the Speaker’s ruling, the court declared that the hearing on these petitions had come to an end.
