Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy has clarified that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls has no connection with government welfare schemes. Addressing District Election Officers and Collectors through a video conference, he stated that the exercise is solely aimed at preparing an accurate and error-free voters' list. With only five days left for submitting enumeration forms, he directed officials to complete 100% digitisation by August 3. He also noted that 76% of the digitisation has already been completed across the state, while rural areas have achieved 90%.
The CEO instructed officials to speed up digitisation in urban constituencies, including Serilingampally, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, GHMC, Nizamabad, Warangal, and Khammam. He warned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and supervisors to ensure error-free uploading of voter details, stating that disciplinary action would be taken against those found negligent. He also directed officials to strictly follow Election Commission norms for polling station rationalisation, preparation of voter lists, and documentation of meetings with political parties.
