Power struggle in TMC intensifies…what is really happening?

An interesting political development has taken place in the Trinamool Congress, where rebel MLA Ritabrata Banerjee announced that the Speaker has appointed him as the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. He stated that the Speaker also accepted their request to recognize their rebel group as a separate legislative faction.

After meeting the Speaker, Ritabrata Banerjee said that he has requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to act as their chief advisor. He also claimed that 58 elected MLAs and two others from outside the state are supporting their group. Earlier, the party had expelled him and several others for anti-party activities, following which the rebel faction approached the Speaker.
