Vijay Sethupathi’s Pocket Novel Set for a Pongal 2027 Release

Releasing films starring popular actors during festive seasons such as Diwali and Pongal has become a regular trend in Indian cinema. Continuing this tradition, actor Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Pocket Novel is gearing up for a theatrical release during Pongal in January 2027. The film is directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja and produced by Tyler Durden and Kino Fist. Malavika Mohanan, Raj B. Shetty and Kishore play important roles in the project. The film features music by G. V. Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Nirosha. It is currently in the post-production stage.

Pocket Novel marks the reunion of Vijay Sethupathi and director Thiagarajan Kumararaja after their critically acclaimed film Super Deluxe. Initially, it was announced that Ilaiyaraaja would compose the music. However, following reports of differences between the composer and the director, Ilaiyaraaja reportedly exited the project, and G. V. Prakash Kumar was subsequently brought on board. Andrew Louis has provided the story and screenplay. The makers have now officially announced the film’s Pongal 2027 release through a newly released poster.
