YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday strongly criticized the state budget while addressing the media at the party’s central office in Tadepalli. He said the coalition government has already presented three budgets and questioned whether the nearly 16 days of Assembly sessions had brought any real benefit to the people. Jagan alleged that the Andhra Pradesh budget contains only fraudulent and fabricated figures. He also stated that the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report clearly reflects financial mismanagement and economic deterioration in the state.
Jagan further alleged that the government borrowed around ₹80,000 crore during the 2024–25 financial year. He criticized the coalition government for failing to implement the “Super-6” and “Super-7” promises made during elections and for discontinuing several welfare schemes introduced by his government. He recalled that even during the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, his administration fulfilled all the promises made to the people. Jagan said that during the five years of YSRCP rule, borrowings were kept below the NBC (Net Borrowing Ceiling) limit. However, he claimed that within the first year of the coalition government, borrowings exceeded the NBC limit by more than ₹12,000 crore. According to him, the current government has taken loans worth ₹3.80 lakh crore so far, whereas his government borrowed only ₹3.30 lakh crore in five years.
The former Chief Minister also accused the government of rampant corruption in the state. He alleged that the administration is functioning on a “loot, share and consume” model. Corruption, he said, is widespread in sectors such as sand, soil, liquor and land. Jagan questioned how the government could generate revenue if public resources were being misused. He further alleged that land worth around ₹5,000 crore in Visakhapatnam was allotted by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to one of his close relatives. He also claimed that large parcels of land are being allocated to real estate companies at extremely low prices. Under such circumstances, Jagan questioned how the state’s revenue could improve. He concluded by saying that even though there are no crisis situations like the pandemic now, the state treasury does not have even the minimum balance.
