Tensions continue over the next round of talks between the United States and Iran. US President Donald Trump has made key remarks stating that he is under no pressure to restart negotiations. In an interview with a news agency, Trump dismissed reports suggesting that the ceasefire extension would be short-lived and clarified that such claims were not true. He said the focus of his administration is to secure a good deal for the American people, and there is no deadline set for Iran to present a peace proposal.
Amid the ceasefire, renewed tensions have emerged in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran reportedly targeted and seized several vessels. Responding to this, Trump said the ships were not American and confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored. He also remarked that Iran’s leadership fears economic blockade more than military strikes, warning that such pressure could severely damage Iran’s energy infrastructure and even force permanent shutdown of its oil wells. Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized the US, stating that inconsistencies between American statements and actions are being closely observed by the world.
