There is a well-known saying in Indian politics: “There are no permanent friends or enemies.” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has proven this more than once. Ahead of the 2024 elections, he renewed his alliance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, once again demonstrating that political relationships evolve with changing times and priorities.
During a recent interview with a leading national news channel, Naidu was asked about his current relationship with the Prime Minister. The anchor also tried to provoke a controversial response by bringing up the political frictions that existed between them in the past.
However, Chandrababu Naidu remained calm and answered the question with notable maturity.
“Our relationship with Modi is very good. Not just Andhra Pradesh, but the entire nation needs a strong and capable leader like him right now. Whatever frictions existed earlier don’t matter anymore. We are on excellent terms with the Prime Minister, and it will continue that way,” Naidu said.
He further clarified that he never had any personal differences with the Prime Minister. His comments are being seen as a clear message to those who frequently bring up past conflicts to suggest tension between the two leaders.
It is worth remembering that Naidu parted ways with Modi and the NDA in 2019, citing Andhra Pradesh’s interests. However, by 2024, the issues had been resolved, and cooperation between both leaders has strengthened significantly. With the Centre now extending strong support to Andhra Pradesh—especially to Amaravati—the relationship between these two senior leaders appears stronger than ever.
