Tech giant Microsoft is set to make a significant investment in India. CEO Satya Nadella announced that the company will invest $17.5 billion (₹1.5 lakh crore) to help the country achieve its AI ambitions. The announcement was made during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Nadella shared a photo on social media highlighting their inspiring discussion on AI opportunities in India.
According to Nadella, this investment is the largest AI commitment in Asia. Over the next four years (2026-29), the funds will be used to develop critical infrastructure, skills, and capabilities required for India’s artificial intelligence sector. This investment comes in addition to the $3 billion previously announced in January this year.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed Microsoft’s investment, expressing confidence that India’s youth will leverage this opportunity and harness AI’s potential creatively. He also highlighted India’s selection as the destination for Asia’s largest AI investment, calling it a proud moment for the country.
